When compared to the more modern cleaning methods used by the automatic cleaners that can be found in many residential pools, the older chlorine dispensers may seem like an outdated option.

However, many people still choose to use chlorine dispensers to maintain the chlorine level of their pool. Chlorine has always been associated with pool cleaners and although it has been criticized for side effects such as flaky skin and burning eyes, it is still a relatively effective and cost efficient choice. Chlorine dispensers are still commonly found in many pools, often as an addition to an automated pool cleaner.
